Living History Performance and Covered Dish Meal
This year our K-7th grade students will be presenting a living history performance on Friday, November 17, 2017, beginning at 10:00 a.m. At 11:00 we will share a meal together much like the pilgrims did for the first Thanksgiving. We will dismiss at noon for the holiday. Parents are asked to bring a covered dish, drinks, or dessert.

For the Living History performance, students will dress in character and will give a short presentation (1-2 minutes) about the historical figure of their choice. Students should choose someone who made a positive contribution to history. They will also need to incorporate a “button” or “switch” as part of their costume; for example, students may put a paper circle on the back of their hand for a button. Guest will go around to each student, press the “button” and listen to a short speech about the character. This is an exciting way to bring history to life for everyone. You will need to help your child with research and costumes. Students need to bring their costumes to school and have their speeches ready by Thursday, November 16, 2017, for rehearsal.

Thanksgiving Break
Our school will dismiss at noon on Friday, November 17, 2017, and will be closed Monday through Friday, November 20-24, 2017, for our Thanksgiving break. School will resume on Monday, November 27, 2017. We hope during this break that you will be able to spend time with family and friends and reflect on the goodness of our God.

Can Food Drive
We are now collecting for our canned food drive for the holiday season. We will continue to collect non-perishables until the Christmas break. If you would like to participate, you may bring your donation to the office. Thank you for your help in this community outreach project.

Our first archery district meet will be this Saturday, November 11, 2017, at New Salem Baptist Church, 57 Bicycle Rd, Griffin, GA 30223. Our flight begins at 11:00. Please arrive one (1) hour early and make sure that you pick up your bows and arrows at school on Thursday, since school will be out on Friday for Veterans’ Day.

Please remember that payment is due for those participating in the after-school practice. Payment is made directly to Southern Addiction by the 15th of each month.

Annual Ski trip
Start planning today to be a part of our annual ski trip to Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley, NC this winter. The dates are Thursday, January 4, 2018, through Friday, January 5, 2018. Due to the nature of this activity, each student skier must be accompanied by an adult. The price of the ticket this year is $140.00 and includes two days of unlimited skiing, lift tickets, ski rental, lunches and snacks for each day. Please be aware that we need a minimum of 15 people skiing to secure this rate. If we do not have enough people skiing, the price will increase, or the trip may be canceled. If the trip is canceled, then the non-refundable deposit will be returned. A non–refundable deposit of $30.00 per person is due by Friday, November 17, 2017, with final payment due on Friday, December 8, 2017. This
