October 31, 2022
Dear Parents,
As we are quickly approaching the holiday season, WHCA wanted to ensure that we also take time to recognize those who have helped to keep our country safe, our veterans. November 11th is Veteran’s Day and to help our students to understand the significance of the service past and present service men and women have made to our society, we will visit the National Infantry Museum in Columbus, GA on Wednesday, November 9th. Our students will be part of Securing Our Freedom Program which includes a film and private tour detailing the role our military heroes play in securing and maintaining our freedom as an American people. The cost for the field trip is $9.00 per visitor. We will meet at the museum at 9:45. Our scheduled time at the museum is at 10:00 a.m. Students will be dismissed after the film and guided tour. Unfortunately, the museum does not offer a place to eat sack lunch onsite; therefore, lunch must be eaten off site. Parents are responsible for transportation for their child/children. Permission slips and money is due by Monday, November 7th as payment must be as a school to the museum. We hope that you are able to attend as we expect this experience to be educational and help those attending to gain a better understanding and appreciation for our service men and women. The address of the museum is 1775 Legacy Way Suite 220, Columbus, GA 31903.

Dear Parents,
We hope that all is well. On Friday, October 28th we will have our annual WHCA Fall Cookout. The cookout will be from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. As per tradition, the school will grill hamburgers and hot dogs and provide entertainment for the kids as well as a goody bag of sweets. We ask that parents provide the sides to help complete the meal for the cookout. The school is also accepting candy donations starting Monday, October 17th. Your participation would be greatly appreciated to help make the Fall Cookout a success for our students. Below is a form where parents can indicate what side they plan to bring. If you could please fill out the form and return it to the school by Wednesday, October 26th, it would be greatly appreciated.
The week of October 24th is WHCA Spirit Week. We have listed what each day’s theme is. We hope that your child participates. We’ve had some incredibly creative costumes and outfits in the past. We look forward to seeing the creativity this year brings.

September 6, 2022
Dear Parents,
On Friday, September 16th, 2022, WHCA will have a schoolwide field trip to the Moving Wall Exhibit. This exhibit is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in Washington, D.C. This free exhibit allows parents and students the opportunity to experience the poignancy and meaning associated with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Students are not allowed to do a rubbing of the names on the wall. There will be volunteers available at the exhibit to assist those who wish to obtain a rubbing of the name of a lost family member or loved one. The school will meet at the exhibit at 9 a.m. After our visit to the Moving Wall, we will be going to tour the Chipley Historic Center. The Center is a short distance from the Moving Wall exhibit. Afterwards for those who wish to join us, we plan to eat lunch at Fox’s Pizza in Pine Mountain. Parents who do not wish to stay may take their child home. It is strongly suggested that high school students attend as they are currently studying American History and the U.S. engagement in Vietnam was a significant era in history. The address for the Moving Wall Exhibit is Chipley Woman’s Club 132 S. McDougald Ave., Pine Mountain, GA 31822. The address for the Chipley Historic Center is 146 N McDougald Ave. Pine Mt., GA 31822. We sincerely hope that you can join us for this trip.
Sincerely,
Teresa Deloach
